Play Therapy
Play therapy is an approach to working with children that enhances a child ability to process emotions. Play therapy is typically used with children 2-11 but can be useful with broader ages as well. Play Therapy is important because children naturally communicate through play. Using a child’s communication style through play, encourages a positive relationship between the therapist and the child, which enables the child to safely process issues. Play techniques can be used for a wide variety of issues a child might experience, such as grief, divorce, trauma, and military deployments. Play allows the child to heal while improving the child’s communication and emotion regulation abilities.
